IDGAF
It seems that the modern way of fighting peer pressure, social media influence and societal norms is to not give a fuck. The moment preaches not caring what others say and think and just being yourself.
But it seems this turning away of our hearts both denies our strength to dealing with the pain and hurt of being looked at and judged, as if we are not able to handle it, and denies a part of our humanity which longs for love and acceptance.
It also seems that having an IDGAF attitude about one area of life seems to overflow to others, making some people crass and emotionless. That closing your heart to one place actually closes it to many.
I wonder what would happen if I open up my heart to being laughed at, judged, teased and looked down on. Could it make me more human? Could it help me love more deeply in other areas in my life?
