Holiday

What does a holiday look like when you are self employed? Is it still checking emails? Is it still chasing leads? Is it still grabbing time here and there to have calls with potential clients?

If it's really a break, so much of that work and momentum can get lost. When coming back from two weeks away there is a cold start. It puts burns a month to get back to the same momentum as before? (2 weeks off + 2 weeks to get things back in motion)

Is this one of the hidden costs of being self employed? Or perhaps this is more felt as a solo, where you don't have teams and systems to continue without you.

On the one hand I really want a break. Not to work for a while. To clear it from my head.

On the other hand I actually love working. It excites me. It's fun for me many times. But I find this context switching can consume me and energize my brain out of the present moment and into doing and planning and testing and tweaking.

I wonder if it can still be a real deep resting rejuvenating holiday, interspersed with some work activities throughout. Or if full holiday mode has a much higher cost being self employed. Or perhaps full holiday mode is not something a self employed person ever really does?
